being a galatians 1:10 princess.

December 29, 2017

When thinking of Galatians 1:10, I’m filled with warmth and mirth. Almost every time I remember the verse, my mind goes back to the first time I said ‘yes’ to Jesus. I remember the first time I lifted my shaky hands to worship. I remember the first time I truly understood that there was a way out of the darkness, and it’s Jesus. And He loves me.

Galatians 1:10 – Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

The first time I stumbled upon this verse was a couple months ago. I went to Starbucks with a couple friends and we studied Galatians 1 and 2. My breath was quite literally taken away when I saw the verse. Something clicked in my head just then, and I was reminded of when I was first saved.

When I got saved, it had nothing to do with others. In fact, if it did have to do with others, I’m sure I wouldn’t have gotten saved at all! It was when I realized, hey: there’s nobody who will ever love me the way God does. I want to know Him and lose everything I’ve ever known to find myself in Him.

In a few days, some will laugh and smile as they get together with family and count down the seconds to the new year. Others will sit down and scrunch their eyebrows together, summon their strength to create goals they have for the new year. And some of you, will continue to live life the way you always have; only with the approval of others.

Can I tell you something? God wants to use you next year. Every single person reading this has the immense power to make an imprint on someones life. Every single person reading this will have chains broken, or will break others chains (with the grace of God). But a huge, huge, huge blockage in all of those blessings will be if you’re not doing it for God. Yes, no one else may see your intentions, but God sees the heart. And you can see yours too.

It’s easier to give up when you do something for someone who isn’t God. When they don’t do something the way you thought they would or they don’t act the way you thought they would it will be so easy to lose momentum.

When you think of what is in store for 2018, strip any external thoughts from your mind. Say goodbye to what your friends want, what your siblings want, what your teachers want, what your parents want.

What do you see God doing next year in your life?

What do you see God doing next year through you?

Follow that instead.
